AIDIMME trabaja en el diseño, construcción y puesta en marcha del prototipo del proyecto LIFE Waste2Coag
Diseño, construcción y puesta en marcha del prototipo. Este es el título del hito que se está desarrollando en la ejecución del proyecto LIFE Waste2-Coag, Brine and metal wastes valorization to produce coagulants for wastewater treatment.
LIFE Waste2Coag impulsa la economía circular en las plantas de tratamiento de agua y crea sinergias con otros sectores, ya que se valorizan los residuos metálicos de chatarra industrial y las salmueras generadas en diferentes industrias, incluidas las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales y las plantas desaladoras.
Objetivos del proyecto
El proyecto busca una solución viable y rentable para la valorización de salmuera y los desechos metálicos con el fin de producir un coagulante sostenible como alternativa a los comerciales.
El producto se empleará en instalaciones de agua, garantizando la utilización eficiente de los recursos para el abastecimiento de servicios hídricos. Por tanto, la tecnología electrolítica que se aplica en el proceso funciona con energías renovables, convirtiéndolo en un proceso plenamente sostenible. Se basa en el uso de los residuos como materia prima y energía renovable.
Acción B1, diseño, construcción y puesta en marcha del prototipo
La pasada semana, un equipo del Instituto se desplazó hasta las instalaciones de Joviar. Allí tuvo lugar una reunión técnica del proyecto en el marco de la acción B.1 (Diseño, construcción y puesta en marcha del prototipo).
En esta acción, se explica el P&I y muestran dimensiones de la planta piloto con objeto de identificar el óptimo enclave del prototipo en la acción B5.
También se examinó el sistema de desmineralización en el que se genera las fracciones de eluyentes/salmuera, cuyas características físico químicas intervendrán en la selección de las mejores condiciones de proceso para la producción de coagulantes.

El proyecto está coordinado por Global Omnium Medioambiente, SL. El resto de socios son Aquafin NV, Creaciones Joviar, SL, Isle Utilities BV y AIDIMME.

AIDIMME works in the design, construction and launch of the prototype of the LIFE Waste2Coag project
Design, construction and launch of the prototype. This is the title of the milestone that is being developed in the LIFE Waste2-Coag project, Brine and metal wastes valorisation to produce coagulants for wastewater treatment.
LIFE Waste2Coag boosts circular economy in water treatment plants and creates synergies with other sectors since industrial scrap metal waste and brines generated in different industries, including wastewater treatment plants and desalination plants, are valorised.
Project objectives
The project seeks a viable and cost-effective solution for brine and metal waste valorisation in order to produce a sustainable coagulant that replaces the currently used commercial coagulants.
The product will be used in water facilities, ensuring the use of resource efficiency for the provision of water services. Therefore, the electrolytic technology applied throughout the process works with renewable energies, turning it into a fully sustainable process, based on the use of waste as raw materials and renewable energies.
B1 Action: design, construction and launch of the prototype
Last week, a team from AIDIMME visited Joviar’s facilities. There, a technical meeting of the project took place as part of action B.1 (design, construction and launch of the prototype).
In this action, P&I is explained and they show the dimensions of the pilot plant in order to identify the optimal location of the prototype in action B5.
The demineralisation system was also examined, where fractions of eluents/brines are generated. The physical-chemical characteristics will be relevant for the selection of the best process conditions for the production of coagulants.
