The 3D printing workshops encourage companies to try new ways of manufacture with additive technologies

Various enterprises have gathered in an instructive session on additive manufacturing technology for SME, a session addressed to a reduced number of participants.

The two organised sessions so far have triggered the expectations of the company representatives. These attending quality and development managers –who have sometimes come accompanied by their suppliers and clients– have placed several commissions in order to evaluate the outreach of these new Industry 4.0 projects in their business models.

The HP MultiJet 5200 technology has had a great reception from the companies given its versatility, cost, and piece finish – apart from the metal-printing option, where AIDIMME is specialist in using different technologies and materials.

The different workshops are carried out within the AIDIMME project ‘Lineas I+D’ as part of the GVA Funds’ non-economic activities financed by IVACE. This fund aims to promote knowledge transparency for the companies in the Valencian Community, where the technological institute appraises as a support of excellence the work methodology developed by ARVET (Spanish Export Companies Association).

This methodology is based on the newly created ECO programme (Operative Coordination Teams) which aims to propose and offer solutions to different issues that generally and specifically affect the manufacturing processes and their products, and contribute to marketing and distribution, especially in external markets.

The chief of New Manufacturing Processes at AIDIMME, José Ramón Blasco, answers the companies’ questions with examples of pieces manufactured at AIDIMME which belong to the permanent exposition.

José Ramón Blasco, the New Manufacturing Processes chief at AIDIMME, explained the different aspects that surround the additive manufacturing processes, offering a global view of the eight technologies used by the Technological Centre. He also explained how to discriminate an option of traditional manufacturing against one of additive manufacturing, and how to make progress in its conception and final solution.

Blasco highlighted the prior essential step in the work: redesigning. He also specified the cost of a standard 3-piece series in different dimensions and its box distribution to optimise the printing space with HP MultiJet Fusion 5200 technology.

AIDIMME has numerous specific services in this field: technical advisory in additive manufacturing (AM), redesign in AM, material development in AM, process standardisation in AM, technological development in AM, and specific training in AM. All the details of these services can be checked on the links ‘AIDIMME Additive Manufacturing Services’, the research projects related to AM and the sectors it addresses.

To this workshop carried out last February 13th, different activities will be taking place in the next few months. They will be integrated in the mentioned ECO (Operative Coordination Teams) programme formed by ARVET and other associated entities like Cofearfe, Arvefer, Aseban and Asfel as centrepieces of the strategic entrepreneurial activity.
